Denmark’s Digital Orthophoto

With the DDO® 2022, Hexagon contributes to documenting Denmark’s development. Like previous editions, the DDO® 2022 is a summer orthophoto that provides a detailed picture of built-up areas, infrastructure and vegetation across Denmark. DDO® 2022 is photographed at 15 cm resolution and resampled by default to 12.5 cm resolution.

Visual Quality


DDO® 2022 is captured after foliation, so trees and shrubbery as well as grass appear in bright green colours, and field crops are in growth in most places. Because it provides clear images of landscapes and urban centres in bright colours, the DDO® is ideal for visualisation.

Vegetation Information


The DDO® provides an overview of the vegetation and the option to identify the prevalence and distribution of various plant species. DDO® comes in a traditional colour version (RGB) and/or a colour-infrared version (CIR) which is particularly well-suited to calculate the distribution between paved and unpaved areas.

The DDO® 2022 program provides both, an overview over large areas as well as detailed information. The high resolution of the imagery allows to identify even the smallest details when you zoom in on a place, while also providing a quick overview.

Access Historic Data


Hexagon has acquired the rights to the previous editions of DDO© produced by COWI, which have been collected nationwide since 1995. The DDO© series thereby provides unique documentation of the development of Denmark’s landscapes, urban centres and infrastructure over the last 25 years.
